Podiatrist,
Dr. Stacy Osborne, has been a fixture on the Cincinnati
running scene since he started running in 1968, first as a
runner for Norwood High School, then Rio Grande College, winning
numerous awards, especially in Cross Country Racing.
Upon
graduation from Rio Grande, Dr. Osborne taught Science at
Norwood Middle School, where he was Track and Assistant Cross
Country Coach for the High School. The Norwood Cross Country
Program was third in the City in those years behind the Colerain
and Elder powerhouses.
Dr.
Osborne left teaching in 1979 to attend the Ohio College of
Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. While in Cleveland,
he was Assistant Cross Country Coach at Mentor High, winning
the Greater Cleveland League Championship 3 times, placing
4th and 9th as a team at State; but in his own words, "at
a school with as many boys as Colerain and Elder, we never
lost to Colerain or Elder while I was at Mentor, and the boys
who were ninth graders my last year there, won the State Championship
their Senior Year."
Graduating
in 1983, he returned to Cincinnati, setting up a private practice
General Podiatry Office on the Norwood-Pleasant Ridge line.
With
a life long interest in running, Dr. Osborne is Board Certified
in Podiatric Orthopedics and is an expert in running biomechanics
using the equal neutral time symmetry technique for the prevention
and treatment of running injuries.
Dr.
Osborne gives generously of his time and talents to the Cincinnati
Running Community, coming every Saturday since May of 1983
to The Running Spot for consultations with runners. He videotapes
many local races just for posterity. He has directed numerous
Road and Cross Country races over the years. He is starting
his 15th years as the Event Coordinator for the Runners' Club
of Cincinnati's Summer Cross Country Series. He starts his
first year as the Summer Cross Country Coach for Princeton
High School this June and is currently Vice President and
Technical Equipment Manager for the Runners' Club of Cincinnati.
Dr.
Osborne lives in Sharonville with his wife of 22 years, Jan,
(also a runner), and their two children, Erica, age 13, (also
a runner) and Alex 7 (not a runner as yet). Dr. Osborne runs
25-35 miles a week at Sharon Woods and Princeton's Cross Country
Course.
